Nashik, Dec 7 (UNI) A female leopard that had created an atmosphere of fear among the villagers at Katvan Mala near Goande shivar in Sinnar taluka of the district was finally captured in a cage early Sunday.
According to the sources in the Forest Department, the free movement of leopards in the area had created fear among the villagers. The large-scale maize cultivation in the area sheltered leopards. Due to this, the farmers' daily agricultural work was in danger.
Against this backdrop, the Forest Department had intensified patrolling with the intention of keeping an eye on the leopard's movements.
Accordingly, a few days ago, a team from the Forest Department installed a trap in the field of farmer Ganesh Bhima Tambe.
The leopard was found caught in the cage early Sunday morning. The forest officials have shifted the animal to the forested area at Mohdari Udyan near Sinnar.
The Forest Department has appealed to the villagers to avoid going out at night or at dusk and to be vigilant while doing agricultural work.
